Regular Pumping & Inspections
Prevent solids from reaching the drainage field by pumping on the correct schedule for your home’s septic tank. The exact pumping maintenance schedule and the condition of the septic system are both determined during our evaluation of your system which is free when you pump your tank.
We will also analyze scum, sludge and water levels in the tank to determine your specific pumping schedule. This, along with following the "Do Not Flush Rules", can drastically increase the life of your system.
Water Management
Septic systems are designed to only handle a certain amount of water per day. Showers daily are mandatory ... for most, but when it comes to laundry, just try not to do the whole house in one day. (120 x ‘number of bedrooms’ = gallons per day)
Drain Field Maintenance
Preventing the soil absorption system from clogging is the most important part of maintaining a septic system. ($5000.00 to 10,000.00 or more to replace.) Septic tank pumping on the right schedule is crucial and when a system gets older, further treatment may be required to extend the lifespan, but do not replace your septic system until you call us.
Things To Do
Use water efficiently to avoid overloading the septic system. Be sure to repair leaky faucets or toilets. If you have a garbage disposal unit use it very sparingly or pump your septic tank more often because this waste does not get broken down in the septic tank. Use commercial bathroom cleaners and laundry detergents in moderation. To prevent the killing of bacteria in the septic tank clean your toilets, sinks, and showers with mild detergent or baking soda which will not harm your tank. Keep records of repairs, pumping, inspections, permits issued, and any other system maintenance activities. Learn the location of your septic tank and drainfield. This is important to know because if you park vehicles on any part of your septic system it can compact the soil in your drainfeild or damage the pipes, tank, or other septic system components. Have septic system evaluated by a professional to learn the condition of your system. Plant only grass over and near your septic system. Roots from nearby trees or shrubs might clog and damage drainfeild.
Don't Flush Rules
